Hi – we have a multisite with an English language domain and an Arabic language subdomain. I have used the XML Sitemap & Google News feeds plugin to create sitemaps for each of these.

We are now getting ‘no index’ errors for each of the /arabic subdomain pages. These show up in Google Search Console for the following sites:
    https://fobzu.org
    https://fobzu.org/arabic

Can anyone help me to understand what is going wrong?

    Many thanks.

  • Hi, are you using another plugin that adds noindex meta tags or response headers?

Hi Ravan, thank you for replying. We have Yoast. Would that be the problem? I’m new to this and am trying to figure out exactly what we need!

No, not likely. Unless you have set up Yoast to add robots noindex tags… Looking at your page sources and server response headers, I see nothing like that so I really cannot explain why Google would complain. Sorry.

By the way, is there a particular reason for not using Yoast’s own sitemap function instead of a separate sitemap plugin?

I honestly can’t remember what the thinking was now. Would it make sense to just use Yoast’s sitemap function and uninstall the other plugin?

Many thanks again for your patience.

P.S. Yoast keeps giving me a notification that I need to click the ‘count links’ button. But the button does nothing. This seems to be a common problem but I haven’t found a way of making it work yet. I don’t know if this has any bearing on the no index problem.
