Support » Plugin: WP YouTube Lyte » Google Schema Warnings

Hello frank, not sure if this is related to YTLite but I had to start somewhere: Google Search Console sent me an email with the following warnings…Fix Videos markup for “my site url”

Google systems show that your site is affected by 199 instances of Videos markup issues. This means that your Videos pages might not appear as rich results in Google Search.

Search Console has created a new report just for this rich result type. The new report enables you to identify, fix, and resubmit affected pages to Google so they can start appearing in Search Results with rich result features.

After looking in at Google Search Console under videos: All errors, 199 instances area ll post that contain the familiar “YTL” httpv:// Google advising I fix these errors but not sure where to start, any input would be welcome. Thanks for taking the time

  • Same as yours shirtguy72, all affected pages contain itemprop=”description” content=””
Where the field content=”” is not empty – is OK

It may be possible to alternatively fill in this field <? php echo get_the_excerpt (); ?> if it is empty?
    Sorry for bad English

And what specific issues is the report highlighting?

    thanks promohunt čÖé

    Missing “description” field
    Date of discovery: 10/06/2019
    Status: Error

Your site has several problems (144) with the “Video” type of markup. Pages marked with “Video” are not suitable for creating advanced search results in Google Search.

The affected page contains a video (for example)

could you provide me with the link to the page so I could have a look at the HTML source @promohunt ?

Frank I sent you to Facebook

I’m also getting this notification since there’s no video schema markup, and as Google says, “Search Console has created a new report just for this rich result type.”

    Thanks for looking into it.

Thanks @shirtguy72 for putting in this question and @optimizingmatters for looking at it so quickly.
I also saw it coming up this morning in Search console and see that by all the video’s it shows me the following in Search console:

    Missing field ‘name’
    Missing field ‘description’
    Missing field ‘uploadDate’

I also checked it with the testing tool for microdata from Google and there it gives these three fields as red. Hope this contributes.

    @teejam and @ncommerce, let’s start with some questions;
    * you have microdata on, I presume?
    * do you have a working YT API key?
    * when looking at the HTML source, do you indeed see those are missing or not?

    Hi –

    1) Yes
    2) Yes
    3) I see “Description” there but the content is blank.Google throws a warning. Same with uploadDate. The “name” meta doesn’t seem to exist?

    @optimizingmatters thanks for your reply.

    * you have microdata on, I presume?

    * do you have a working YT API key?
I do have the Api key in there, but when I test the key, it gives me:

    Checking your key …

Der API Schl├╝ssel d├╝rfte g├╝ltig sein, aber der API Aufruf war nicht erfolgreich oder die R├╝ckmeldung war nicht ganz erwartet. Technischer Fehler.accessNotConfigured

So till now I assumed it would work, but could it be something with this key and if so what could it be?

    * when looking at the HTML source, do you indeed see those are missing or not?
Yes, it looks to me like they are missing.

    Hope to hear from you.

    Kind regards,

@ncommerce if you get that error the key is not OK and LYTE will not be able to fetch any data from YT and the structured data will be empty. You will probably have to generate a new API key.

@teejam can you provide a URL where I can see the HTML?

all; seems to give more detailed info on what is or is not missing.

Thanks, the structured data testing tool says that the description, name and uploadDate are missing.

Test of an affected page (with 3 videos)

I thought the issue was that the API was restricted to my site’s URL, so I disabled that and tested with your plugin, which gave me this message: “Your API key might be OK, but the API call did not succeed or the response was not entirely expected. Technical error: accessNotConfigured

Then I tried to revalidate via Google’s Webmaster Tools, but it still threw an error about the metadata.

I can send you a link to the page(s) via PM, though I don’t see a way to do that on WordPress’ site.
