Google rejecting sitemap with 403 errors
-
I’ve had some hellacious problems getting this to work right. I’m getting constant 403 errors from Google when they try to grab the file. Oddly enough Google can get the main file without an error, but all the subsequent ones it chokes on with 403.
I initially had a problem with the main one being 403 as well, but I got around that. I also use iThemes Security Pro, and it seems it was causing the 403. I removed everything I cold think of, short of removing the plugin completely (including backing out all of the security parameters from .htaccess), and it didn’t seem to make a difference.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to get around this? I’ve also contacted their support about it, but I figure it’s a good idea to ask for as much help as possible.
I do have the option in the plugin set to NOT use the built in robots.txt – and I have the main one manually configured in my robots.txt. I really hope I don’t have to add every single sub map to that, as I have a ton of them, and updating it dynamically for new stuff really isn’t an option.
Tkx.
