 * Hello Jordy,
 * I have a paid version of your plugin. It’s great and works like a charm, however
   when I do a page speed test using Google’s services it’s giving me a 0/100 for
   speed because of the Retina images.
 * Here’s what it says: “Optimize the following images to reduce their size by 9.1MiB(
   97% reduction).
    Compressing and resizing [http://www.continuagroup.com/…tent/uploads/2015/06/Karin-head-shot.png](http://www.continuagroup.com/…tent/uploads/2015/06/Karin-head-shot.png)
   could save 3.3MiB (99% reduction).”
 * It lists all of the images that I used with the plugin.
 * All images that are not retina do not come up.
 * I’m using the following settings in Retain 2x.
 * PictureFill
    Keep IMG SRC use lazysizes
 * These were recommend in the plugin so I used them.
 * I’m not using a caching plugin just yet.
 * My question is – is this inherent in the way the plug in works? Is there a way
   to set up the plugin so it scores better on Google’s page test?
 * Thanks,
    Aaron

 * Hello Aaron,
 * Which page did you test?
    Google should only get the non-retina images… definitely
   the plugin wouldn’t force the retina images to be used, except if you checked
   the Debug option.

 * Hi Jordy.
 * I’m testing continuagroup.com.
 * Here are the test results:

 * Thanks for your help with this 🙂

 * Also, I’m not using the debug mode but I did set image quality to 100 if that
   would make this big of a difference.

 * When Google access the website (or pagespeed), it shouldn’t be able to see your
   retina images. The problem is that on your website I noticed it is not really
   the retina images generated by the plugin which are used 🙂 You are using directly
   the Full Size images everywhere, which is why PS Insights is crying 🙂
 * In your posts, you should use image sizes (medium for example) but not the full-
   size. If you do, yeah, the biggest/original image will be used which is way too
   big.
 * Basically, the plugin doesn’t even change your page right now. It might have
   generated the retina images but it’s not using them.

 * Gotcha. I think I misunderstood what the plugin does haha
 * I got it now, I think. I’ll try again and if it works I’ll come back and mark
   this as closed 🙂

 * One last question, Jordy.
 * So all I need to do is drop, for example, this url on my page:
 * [http://www.continuagroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Support2-1-150×150.png](http://www.continuagroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Support2-1-150×150.png)
 * and then this will display if it’s a non-retina device or low res machine.
 * But if it’s a high resolution machine or a retina device it will automatically
   pull in this url:
 * [http://www.continuagroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Support2-1-150×150@2x.png](http://www.continuagroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Support2-1-150×150@2x.png)
 * Or should I start with the 2x image? This is what I’m confused about still. Which
   url do I place on the page?
    Also, I’ve placed the first url above on the page
   and then tested on my machine but it does not pull in the 2x image. I’m using
   a Dell XPS 15 2014 model with a screen res of 3200 x 1800 pixels- a very high
   resolution so I thought it would work. The image doesn’t look crisp like my full
   size did.

 * Exactly 🙂 You don’t need to think about Retina at all, just use your WordPress
   normally, and use preferably the image sizes. You really never need to think
   about @2x or retina files when everything is setup properly (which can be the
   case by default).
 * High resolution and Retina is two different things.
 * Really, doesn’t look as crisp? What’s the exact URL and position of your that
   image?

 * right, I understand Retina and high res are different, I was just hoping it would
   work in high res Windows machines too.
 * Same page, continuagroup.com and it’s the main image – [http://www.continuagroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/hs-screen-sidexsidecontnet-2048px-1024×648.png](http://www.continuagroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/hs-screen-sidexsidecontnet-2048px-1024×648.png)
 * I used the 1024 image but I think the space is about 600-700.
 * Does it pull in the retina image on your Mac?
 * Maybe I need to make the large WP image size smaller than 1024.
 * BTW – thanks for the great support. I do understand how it works now. I’ll just
   drop in the non-retina and it will grab the retina image as needed.

 * I think they have PC machines with Retina displays now. Of course Apple has and
   Google also has High-DPI displays computers but I think there are PCs now too:

 * Also, it seems people are trying Windows 10 on MacBook Retina and it works very
   well: [http://9to5mac.com/2015/05/15/retina-macbook-windows-10/](http://9to5mac.com/2015/05/15/retina-macbook-windows-10/).
 * I checked your page but the page has not been properly rewritten. By any chance,
   are you using WordPress SEO plugin with the “Rewrite Title” option on?

 * yes it was on and now it’s working on my machine 🙂
 * There’s a conflict between these two plugins with this option?

 * Yeah… it’s about to become the most famous plugin conflict :p I think somebody
   told the developer already but not sure, he never came here to talk about it.
   Please drop him a message if you have some time, hopefully he will try to find
   a way to make it work with me. On my side, I can’t do anything about it, I can
   only stop his plugin (this option) from working and do my stuff. Basically now
   it is the other way, he is “taking over” me.
