[Resolved] Google Page Speed decrease

  • Anyone run across this issue? I just updated to 3.7, and Google Page Speed results have dropped to 45% from 83% – a definite fail. I have changed nothing but the WP version. I’m concerned about Google’s impression of my site now due to slower results. Any ideas?

One of my sites has a 99/100 Page Speed ranking so I doubt it’s related to the upgrade. If you’d like you can post your URL and plugins you have installed. The community might be able to help out.

    happy for you
I achieved prior results with plugins I have presently
like I said, all that is different is the version of WordPress

What does Google Page Speed say to improve? Minify, compression, image optimization and most of the other categories depend on your theme and server settings.

Sorry Patrick, frustrated. It suggests “Serve scaled images”
My load time has increased also

If your score is 45% from not serving scaled images then I would assume your images must be huge? I know that Insights takes this factor into high priority. This scaled image issue is something your theme or image plugins would optimize. Without a link to your site it’s hard to see exactly what’s going on. my omission – http://electronicsmain.com

the image thing wasn’t an issue with 3.6.1
    my settings are 150×150 cropped
    300×300 medium
    800×800 large

The PageSpeed Insights results says you should compress your images. This has nothing to do with “serve scaled images.” This means that your images are bigger in file size than they need to be. A 75kb image could be 23kb, etc.

Also, on desktop your home page gets a 72/100 as of now. You may want to address the other issues first, I think they will have a bigger impact on loading time.
