• There’s no shortage of Google Maps plugins, I already tried a few, but unfortunately none seem to work as I had in mind.

I have a multi-language site (Polylang) and I want to show a map on my homepage that shows at least one marker for each blogpost that I have. Some posts can have multiple markers if I discuss multiple locations in that blog.

Ideally I would have a plugin that:

    – allows me to create a map that automatically shows all markers as they are created
    – integrates with the posts screen of wordpress and allows me to create markers on this screen (the markers relevant to this post) Those markers would then link automatically back to the post when clicked
    – the map would be language aware, showing markers in the language of the homepage

    —-

I think the ‘WP Goolge Map Plugin’ could provide a workaround alas with quite some extra steps.
    – I would need to create markers after each post I’ve written (one for each language)
    – I would need to copy in the relevant URL to the post
    – I would need to add the markers to the map
AND if I ever remove a post I shouldn’t forget to remove the marker…

So I was hoping somebody could point me in the direction of a better solution.

The plugin I’ve used and which I think meets your expressed needs, is
MapPress Easy Google Maps. It can create markers automatically from data in posts. Not sure about language.

    Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately it seems that a map unsing this plugin is limited to one post.
So each post can have it’s own map with multiple POI’s of one post but POI’s of different posts cannot be combined one one map.

I’m looking into a plugin that would allow me to create one map that I will show on a page of my blog that combines POI’s from different posts on my site.

Maybe this just doesn’t exists and I will need to create my own functionality?

Yes you can have a “MASHUP” map with Mappress, you add POIs to the posts, and then use shortcode [mashup] on any page or post.

this can also be a specific query of certain categories or posts.
