Google Maps and WordPress – what’s the deal?

  • Hi All,

I’m really confused, can I simply paste a link into my page and have it work? this article says I can but step7 it doesn’t change into shortcode for me http://en.support.wordpress.com/google-maps/

I’ve tested quite a few plugins and I prefer wp-geo, but it does add to my overhead. However adding a googlemap iframe to my html for the page causes validation errors, and the plugin does not. Therefore I think better to give with the plugin and take the overhead hit.

What is your opinion about googlemaps and wordpress?

    thank you

That particular article is specific to the free hosted wordpress.com blogs, which are different from the free self-hosted and self-installed version of WordPress supported here. You’ll have to use a plugin with “our” version of WordPress.
