  • I would like to defeat/disable Google image search’s link to my original full size images. Is there a simple way to do that that anyone can share with me?

I do want the images indexed, but would like the search results to point to the post rather than just the image. It also seems that Google is breaking their own TOS regarding copyright infringement. 🙁

    How?

They using images from websites on their website, linking to the full size images and bypassing the original website’s pages. This promotes the stealing of the images from websites by users.

You mean in image search? But, when someone clicks on images, they show your site also as source. They do not violate copyright laws and in fact warn users that the image may be subject to copyright.

As a matter of fact, there is no foolproof method to permanently hide images posted on internet (unless you use noindex, nofollow, mark as private, etc. that may work). The best bet is to use watermarked images or use only low resolution/ smaller images.

Would you feel the same way if I were to link to and display your full size images on my site, and give my viewers the option to download your images without even viewing any of your website content?

Most likely you would accuse me of stealing your images and with copyright infringement.

Just because it is Google, does that make it okay?

Quite a valid question! I am sorry, but you have to take it up with Google, as it is not a WordPress issue.
