 * Hello,
    as a german I have to make my page GDPR ready. I am not very advanced
   in WordPress development, but I figured out that getting Google Fonts from their
   server are a problem GDPR-wise, because data of the user gets sent to their servers.
 * Does anyone here bother with that and knows how to properly handle this situation?
 * I am also interested in everything else regarding GeneratePress in relation to
   the GDPR.

 * Hi there,
 * If you can’t use Google Fonts on your site, you can just use a font from the “
   System fonts” area in the typography dropdown. None of those will call to an
   external service.
 * You can also host your own fonts locally using @font-face.
 * Let me know if you need more info 🙂

 * Seems to be a German problem… 😉
 * There is no problem using the Google Fonts API at the moment.
 * If Germany will build a Chinese wall, this also makes sense… But the discussion
   by not reading the [Developers FAQ of Google Fonts](https://Developers FAQ of Google Fonts)(
   yes, it is available in English only) and wrong interpretation of the GDPR has
   become really annoying.
 * There is also an “official” discussion about the topic on GitHub:

 * Thanks for the link, but you are aware that the (Github) link you posted says
   that Google Fonts are in no way GDPR compliant? I am confused because in your
   post you imply that there would be no problem.

 * How can I disable Google Fonts to host them myself?

 * Please read the whole discussion on GitHub… Some say using the Google Fonts API
   is not compliant with the GDPR. With very weak arguments.
 * It’s on you to follow them and their misunderstandings of how the Google Fonts
   API works, what web fonts are and what the GDPR says. You can also find a lot
   of statements by lawyers that there is no problem using the Google Fonts API (
   using… Google Search for example).
