Support » Theme: Startup Blog » Google fonts for Hebrew only works for Chrome

    Hi,

    I use a specific font (varela round). In Chrome, both English and Hebrew texts are being presented using that font.
    However, in other browsers, e.g. Edge, the font works fine in English but the Hebrew part uses the browser default font.

    I have searched the web a bit and found that:
    https://webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/85864/google-fonts-hebrew-works-only-in-chrome

    but due to lack of knowledge in CSS and WordPress, I am not sure how to implement the solution (or, preferably, have a new version of Startup Blog Pro with that being solved).

    Thanks for the link, that helps a lot.

    Do you have a child theme already? If so, you can add the following to the functions.php file:

    function my_load_hebrew_font() {
      wp_enqueue_style( 'my-google-fonts', '//fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Varela+Round&subset=hebrew');
    }
    add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'my_load_hebrew_font' );

    If not, let me know and I can help you quickly add a child theme to your site.

    No, don’t have a child theme yet 🙂

    Okay no problem. You can dowload the child theme here: http://pics.competethemes.com/qCxB

    It implements the snippet I shared above based on the info in the stack exchange thread. You can upload the startup-blog-child.zip file via the Appearance menu and activate like a regular theme.
