Support » Plugin: Event Organiser » google calender refuses to import my eo-events

  • On http://www.pilsensee.de/?page_id=25

I used the following shortcode to provide a linkk to subscribe my event organiser caleder in google calender

    [eo_subscribe class=”button” title=”SCP-Termine als Google-Kalender abonnieren” type=”google” category=”scp”]SCP-Termine als Google-Kalender abonnieren[/eo_subscribe]

    https://icalendar.org/validator.html:

I get 10 warnings “Line length should not be longer than 75 characters”, This is because the event organiser puts the full html description of the event “X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:”-tag. I do not know how to make eo to drop these.

In google calender, when importing by URL, it says “Die angegebene Adresse enthält keinen Kalender im gültigen iCAL oder GData-Format” (English: The given URL does not contain a calendar in a valid iCal or GData format)

Maybe there is some trouble with german umlauts. They look like valid UTF8. The response headers of the server for the calendar URL also state UTF-8:

    http://www.pilsensee.de/?feed=eo-events&event-category=scp

eo is version 3.1.7 I am out of ideas. Anyone?

Thanks for the heads-up on the warnings, I’ll look into those.

I’m not convinced those warnings are enough to cause the issue you are having, but to workaround it in the meantime you can copy the file templates/ical.php into your theme and remove the “X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:”-tag

Please let me know if that resolves it for you.

    Hi,

I found the reason why google did not accept the calendar. It was an empty extra line in the header that showed up as first empty line in the .ics-file, It was caused by a custom functions.php in the wordpress theme containig an empty line after the closing php tag.

    Sorry for bothering you …

    Daniel
