Support » Plugin: Google Maps Widget - Best Google Maps Plugin » Was not as easy as it appeared to be.

  • Based on the overview video, it promised to be an easy setup. The plugin part was straight forward. Getting the Google Map API was also okay but when it came to actually getting a map working, it really got confusing. The idea of the widget is fantastic and I appreciated the flexibility but right from the word go, it was pushing for me to upgrade to get all of these features which I did not need. I wanted a simple google map with a pin that a person could click to view full screen in another tab or window. Normally I just embed it direct with a google map embed iframe but I wanted to see if there was an easier way to go. In the end, I went back to adding the google Map manually. In 5 minutes, it was working. There has to be a good plugin to do that sort of thing that does not cost $30.
In closing, maybe it was just me not getting what I had to do even though I am a dev and have been working with WordPress since 2010. Based on the reviews, a lot of people like the plugin and so if you think it may work for you, please don’t let my review put you off. Give it a go and if it does the job well and saves you time, then paying for it is worth it.

    Morning,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate all the feedback. Yes, we do push for upgrades to paid versions. The reason is simple – maintaining a free plugin is no longer a five-minute job, and in the end, someone has to pay for it. People are not willing to donate so, at the moment, this is the only way to go.
