Support » Plugin: Yoast SEO » Google: Breadcrumbs markup issues

  • Hello,

I got this alert today for the first time for a site that is listed since long time:

Google systems show that your site is affected by 62 instances of Breadcrumbs markup issues. This means that your Breadcrumbs pages might not appear as rich results in Google Search.

Search Console has created a new report just for this rich result type. The new report enables you to identify, fix, and resubmit affected pages to Google so they can start appearing in Search Results with rich result features.

When checking the details, there are 62 items with “Invalid URL in field “id””, 2 items with “Missing field “item”” and 2 others with “Either “name” or “item.name” should be specified”.

I really don’t know how to handle those…
Is there something to be edited in Yoast settings or else?

In fact, I’m I supposed to enable breadcrumbs in settings if I don’t use them?
I just see they were disabled…

    Thanks.

    A. In the last few days, Google Search Console has started to notify webmasters of issues with their breadcrumbs. Please bear with our support team since every message you receive is likely to be unknown to us since this is a brand new report by Google. Thanks!

    B. Yoast SEO does not output breadcrumb schema unless you have enabled this feature. Please verify that you have enabled Yoast breadcrumbs under
Admin > SEO > Search Appearance > Breadcrumbs (tab)

If you have enabled Yoast breadcrumbs and are not the OP ( @dsl225 ), please open a new request with as much information (including example URLs where the breadcrumb error occurs). That way it’s easier to track issues and provide assistance.

If you have not enabled Yoast breadcrumbs like the OP, another plugin or theme feature may have added breadcrumb markup. Please contact the author or support team for the plugin/theme that adds the breadcrumb markup.

If you are unsure what plugin or theme adds breadcrumb mark, the fastest way to determine this is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Nineteen.

Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check without affecting normal visitors to your site.

As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts.
