Support » Plugin: Video Embed & Thumbnail Generator » Google Analytics – no events tracked

  • Hi there

    I would like to have start and end of my videos tracked by google analytics. GA is setup on my wp site, however, I don’t see any events under “events”. GA is working in general, so I can see the user on the page, it must be an issue with the plugin. I also have tested some other plugins like FV Flowplayer. In FV Flowplayer I can ad my google analytics ID, and then I can see the events.

    What do I need to do in order this plugin will work? I cannot find a similar setting as in the FV Flowplayer. Thanks for any help.

    Can you post a link to your site so I can help you troubleshoot it? In general you don’t need to do anything to have my plugin send events to your Google Analytics so there’s no need to add your ID anywhere.

    Unfortunately it’s a porn site, I hope you will not be offened by that?

    Thanks anyway for your help. I have linked the video directly via absolute path, maybe could that cause the issue?

    `<video id=”video_kgvid_0″ controls preload=”metadata” width=”640″ height=”360″ class=”fitvidsignore video-js kg-video-js-skin”>
    <source src=”http://www.cockhero.nl/cockhero-basic-archive/cockhero.basic.18.mp4?id=0″ type=”video/mp4″ data-res=”Full”>
    </video>

    I can’t see anything that would prevent the plugin from sending stats to Google Analytics from that page. Where are you looking in GA to see the events?

    Hi Kyle

    I’m looking under behaviour => Events => Top Events. Currently I can only see events from FV Flowplayer videos. F.e. https://www.cockhero.nl/cockhero-nl-edition-001/ is a page with that player. https://www.cockhero.nl/ch-basic-18/ is currently build with your plugin.

    Can you provide a link to a website, where this feature is working? I’m happy to study the source-code then 🙂

    Once again Google has changed the way their tracking works. I’m going to need to update the plugin to work with gtag.js, which should be pretty simple. I’ve created an issue on GitHub so you can track my progress.

    Great news, thanks you!

    Is there any estimated date for release 4.6.21? 🙂

    I can’t guess. There are a couple other problems I need to fix and it’s impossible to tell when I can do them. Feel free to try out the development version on Github if you’re in a hurry. I think I fixed the stats problem last night.
