Google Analytics ID no longer an optoin?

    It seems that the Google Analytics ID field is no longer an option within AIOSEO?

    We’ve used this field to easily add Google Analytics for hundreds of sites, as well as outbound tracking, etc. And now you remove it, and expect us to install yet another plugin to make up for the features you’ve removed, on new sites?

    This screenshot is no longer relevant, and you now insist on us installing MonsterInsights?

    I see that it’s at least still available on existing sites that have been updated; but I don’t see how to get it back for new sites. Is that feature truly being deprecated?

    If so, I’d recommend properly updating your changelogs and making things more obvious and transparent. I’m secretly hoping it’s just a bug though, since I’d really like to keep using your plugin..

    Hi Jon,

    according to forum posts, they really removed it, unfortunately.
    What they will tell you: “MonsterInsights offers more tools for you”
    Reality: they are downgrading the plugin and they try to upsell you another bloated crap.

    @wpsmort or @arnaudbroes can we get a response here? Your “new” documentation still shows the field as an option to add UA code: https://i.imgur.com/GpYIEo5.png

    Your changelog mentions nothing about stripping this functionality.

    It’s clearly still there for sites that were already making use of the UA code and tracking settings. So why isn’t it still there for new installs?

    @freshyjon Google Analytics has been deprecated for all new installs. If you were using the Google Analytics settings in v3.x then you’d still see them in v4.x. But if you never used them before, or just installed All in One SEO on a new site, you wouldn’t see the settings.

    How long will you be supporting GA in AIOSEO going forward. Assuming you never strip it out (and therefore break tons of sites), why not just make it visible for new sites to use too?

    We’re not supporting it anymore, it’s deprecated. It’ll always be in the v3.x releases but we won’t be supporting it or doing any further development.

    I realize it’s not “supported”, but it’s still included in v4 releases, as a sort of “grandfathered” feature for users who were using it in v3. Therefore it still exists in v4. I realize you won’t be maintaining it or developing it further, but the fact of the matter is it’s still in v4 and will be for all future releases (otherwise it would break many user’s websites if/when they ever updated the plugin).

    Therefore, since the actual feature is within v4, why not just show it to new installs too?

    GA UA settings do not carry to the latest version of ALIOSEO any more. I have tested it yesterday. It just keeps forcing MonsterInsights … Sad! 🙁
