Google Analytics for multisite (synchronous) (11 posts)

I installed Google Analyticator on my multisite wordpress and then network activated it. It seems to only be working for the main parent site, even though I filled out the settings for each site.

Anyway, when I go to my top referrers, it's treating the other subdomains as referring sites. This is not how I want it. I just want google analytics to treat the whole network as one site.

Is there a better plugin? I see a multisite plugin that is asynchronous, so that individual blog admins can set up their own Google Analytics. This is obviously not what I need.

    Thanks for your help.

  2. Hm. Mine seems to track *.domain.com all as one site.

I'm pretty sure that can be setup on Google's side, actually. There's a way you have to tell it 'Subdomains == all one!'

OK -- and you're using analyticator? Do I only need this activated for the main site or does it need to be network activated?

I've found that if I want to track stuff across all MultiSite sites, the best way to do it is manually add code to the theme footer, either in the theme file or via wp_footer().

Here's the code that you may need in order to track all your sites:

[Code moderated as per the Forum Rules. Please use the pastebin]

    I found this works well.

OK. I like analyticator because I can see stats in my dashboard. If I can't find a plugin-based solution I'll consider just hard coding it in. Thanks.

  6. I activated it per-site and it works fine. ANd yes, I use analyticator :)

  7. This:

that;s how you get google analytics code to show up on all sites.

OK, let me back up for one minute...

Ipstenu, you said you activated analyticator per-site and it worked fine. You also said you changed some setting in analytics to get it to work with multisite.

The main issue I'm having is that it's treating my other subdomains as referring sites. Is this not the case for you? And if it isn't, could you tell me what setting you changed in analytics?

    Thanks so much.

  9. I set something up in GOOGLE to tell it 'treat all my subdomains as one site.' At one point in time I really clearly remember that I did that. What I can't remember is HOW I did that!

But I remember clearly that there is a change you have to make with Google to tell it 'No, foobar.domain.com and shazbot.domain.com are all domain.com, stop it!'

    It may be the filters.

Ah, I don't think I saw this one. I saw a different asynchronous one, but this one says that the super admin can see data for the whole network, which is what I want. I'll definately give it a shot. Thanks!
