 * It seems you didn’t place it in the correct place. Download a copy of your theme
   files and search through the theme files for the google code and once found,
   delete it.
 * Then you can add your google analytics code to the footer.php, ideally at the
   end.

 * I don’t even know where my theme files are.
 * is it in Appearance – Editor? There it is a lot of text.

 * To be abkle to fix the problem, you will need to remember what you did!
 * Yes, Appearance->Editor is your theme files, did you paste your analytics code
   that way?
 * There are several google analytics plugins which will insert the required code.
   I’d recommend using one of those. Then you don’t need to edit theme files, and
   if you change themes in the future you don’t have to worry about remembering
   to transfer over the code

 * Solved it!
 * I used a plugin called “Insert Headers and footers”. It somehow put the ID visible
   in the background. I’ll just use another plugin. Not quite schooled in HTML yet.
