On my WordPress, I installed this plugin and selected “Disable tracking of Admin-level users.” When I tested by visiting my site in another browser, I couldn’t find the g-tag code. Further, in Google Analytics setup steps, when I tried the option to test my site, Google said it couldn’t find the code.

Then, I unchecked “Disable tracking of Admin-level users” in the plugin settings, re-checked the site in another browser, and could see the g-tag code. I also used the Test Site option within Google Analytics and it successfully found the g-tag code. So it appears that something is wrong with the “Disable tracking of Admin-level users” option.

    I have WordPress v. 6.8.2 and v. 20250326 of the plugin.

    Glad to help.

I just did the following test:

    1. Installed WordPress
    2. Installed/activated GA Google Analytics
    3. Added my tracking code
    4. Enabled the setting to disable for Admin users
    5. Viewed the source code in current browser where I was logged in
    6. Viewed the source code in different (clean) browser where I was NOT logged in

The results are that the GA code was not included on the browser where I was logged in (as Admin), and included on the browser where I was not logged in. So normal results.

If this is not happening on any given site, there are a few things worth checking:

    1. Running any cache plugin(s)?
    2. Double-check clean browser for testing logged-out state
    3. Any errors in the site’s error log (and/or debug log)

If those are all good then most likely there is some interference from some other plugin or maybe something the theme is doing. Best advice in that case is to do some basic troubleshooting. I would be glad to provide a free guide if it might be useful for you.

Let me know how I can help.

I appreciate the reply. Thanks for testing. I do have a caching plugin so that might be the issue. I’ll do some troubleshooting this weekend.

I can verify that it’s working as expected, so I was just impatient before. Thanks!
