    Hi,
we run a service in the territory of the European Union (in Poland). After installing Complianz, we observe that after clicking the Reject button on the banner, the user still has Google Analytics and LinkedIn files loaded.

I checked the Complianz settings (Consent > Cookie description) and I see that the files (_dc_gtm_UA-21084911-3; _ga; _gid) have a Purpose – Statistics.

The same happens with LinkedIn files (AnalyticsSyncHistory, UserMatchHistory, bcookie, li_gc, li_mc, lidc; JSESSIONID; bscookie; li_alerts; li_at; li_rm), which have a selected Purpose – Marketing Tracking.

    Why are these files loading?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @jarnovos
I’m coming back with the topic because since March 7, 2023, when we successfully configured the blocking of Google Analytics cookies using GTM, I’ve been observing a spike in visits in Google Analytics.

Either users, seeing the cookie banner, resign from visiting, which is very bad information, or they reject consent, so we will not know anything.

Are there any ways to improve this?

    1. In a few days we will switch to GA4, which records events independently of cookies. Will this make us any better?
    2. Could Google Consent Mode be relevant here?

    Hi @zdzichu,

As you’re now obtaining consent before loading Analytics, as per the requirements; that would explain why the data changed. There’s probably quite a number of visitors that do not consent to at least the Statistics category in your Cookie Banner, and those visitor’s won’t be tracked.

As Google Analytics 4 sets a number of cookies as well; as well as that personal data is involved, I’d say it would require Statistics consent just like UA properties do.

Google Consent Mode would mean that Google determines which functionalities of the Analytics tag are allowed to load based on consent, but can’t say whether that also translates to “more data” being tracked.

You can find the details here: https://complianz.io/consent-mode/

    Kind regards, Jarno

    Hi @jarnovos
I hope that in a few days we will implement GA4 and see in practice if anything changes.
I will also try the Complianz premium version with Google Consent Mode enabled.

I still have a question, is it possible to use a banner with a limited number of buttons for I ACCEPT and PREFERENCES in the premium version? So that a possible REJECTION could take place after clicking on PREFERENCES and our message about the essence of statistical files.

    Hi @zdzichu,

You can adjust the buttons to your liking, also in the Free plugin. The configuration of the button layout can be changed under Complianz > Cookie Banner > Appearance > Categories.

    Hi @jarnovos,
in the free version of the plugin I only have three options:

Accept > Reject > View Preferences
Accept > Reject > Save Preferences
    Accept > Reject

I am interested in the option:
    Accept > View Preferences

    Is something like this possible?

    Thanks a lot @aahulsebos,
    It works 🙂
    I’ll be watching the stats.

    And one more thing.
Because I plan to implement GA4 and switch to the Complianz paid version (to enable Google Consent Mode).
Is there any suggested order of these steps?
What would you advise to do first?

    Hi,
I am implementing Complianz on the second website https://www.controlling-systems.pl/ (also run in Poland, in the European Union) and it seems to me that I am doing everything according to the instructions for the previous implementation, and yet Google and LinkedIn files are loading before consent is given.

In Comlianz plugin I have GTM checked and GTM plugin for WP detected.

    1. In GTM I have:
      a) imported Complianz custom triggers as described here – https://complianz.io/importing-tag-manager-container/
      b) configured triggers – cmplz_event_statistics and cmplz_event_marketing
      c) configured LinkedIn tag – activated by cmplz_event_marketing and configured GA4 tag triggered by cmplz_event_statistics

Unfortunately, the cookie banner before the user’s decision does not block either Google Analytics or LInkedIm files.
I will be grateful for your help.

    Hi @zdzichu,

You most-likely still have a ‘manually’ placed Analytics script on the page, because when I block “gtm” in my own browser to avoid the Tag Manager tags from being loaded: the Analytics script is still loaded.

LinkedIn already appears correct, it fires only upon accepting the Marketing category. Therefore I expect the above to be the reason for your Analytics behavior.

    Kind regards, Jarno

    Hi @jarnovos,
    you were right.
We had added Google Analytics tracking code in one more plugin.
I’ve now removed that code, but unfortunately users are still saving google files before opting in.

Can you take a look at what’s the matter?

    Hi @zdzichu,

There is still an Analytics tag firing from your Google Tag Manager container prior to consent, it has the property ID “G-12345…” so I expect that there is an Example/Demo tag in your container that’s still being fired without consent at the moment.

    Kind regards, Jarno

    I see him.
It’s the “(Demo) GA4 Consent Mode” tag.
There’s also the “(Demo) Pageview with Exceptions” tag.
Both were added by a container imported from Complianz.
The question is what to do with them? Can I remove them from GTM?

    Hi @jarnovos,
on the website https://eureca.com.pl/ I implemented Google Analytics 4, then I bought the Premium Complianz version.
So far I’ve had GTM configured custom triggers Statistics (cmplz_event_statistics – for GA4, GA Universal) and Marketing (cmplz_event_marketing – for LinkedIn).

Today I enabled Google Consent Mode and made changes to GTM according to this article https://complianz.io/consent-mode/ and specifically this part “Changing your current configuration”. So for the GA and LinkedIn tags, I removed the Complianz custom triggers and added the “All Pages” trigger.

After the changes, I see that my Google Analytics tags (Universal and GA4) are loading.

I understand that this should not be the case. Have I missed something?
