    Hi there

Recently i have migrated my site to a new domain and have followed all the necessary steps. At the moment both site (old domain and new domain) have amp installed. According to google i am keeping both sites until the 301 redirect is complete. However i have received a message from google which i don’t understand the real meaning.
Can you please help with this.

    Google message
Google systems have detected that your site includes Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) that are hosted on a different domain. This domain will be seen by users in some environments, which may be confusing for them. We will continue serving these pages but we recommend using the same domain name for better user experience.

1 Identify affected pages by looking at “AMP page domain mismatch” warnings in the Search Console AMP report
2 Move the AMPs to the same domain, redirect the old AMP URLs to the new ones, and update the link rel=amphtml tags on the pages.
3 Simulate how this page will look in the viewer by using “Preview on Search” button on the AMP Test.

    Many thanks in advance

    Hi @eddievet,

The problem you are observing is not related to the official AMP Plugin for WordPress. As the error indicates, having AMP content hosted on a different domain form your canonical site is not good. You can address questions related to Search and AMP in general in the Webmasters forums: https://support.google.com/webmasters/community?hl=en

    @albertomedina

That other domain is being redirected to this domain, if this referring to you statement (having AMP content hosted on a different domain form your canonical site is not good.) Should i remove the amp from that old domain/site?

Also, the type of error i am getting is https://paste.pics/00ffa9e6f8b8bd86005c9a7a044e599b under this message – AMP HTML Tag is missing layout attributes.

@eddievet You have ads which lack the required width and height attributes:

    <amp-ad type="adsense" data-ad-client="ca-pub-14049…" data-ad-slot="189…" data-ad-format="auto" data-full-width-responsive="true"><div overflow=""></div></amp-ad>

You’ll have to either provide the attributes or reach out to the theme/plugin author that is adding the amp-ad in the first place to fix this problem.

Can you please tell how to do this? Where do i have to implement these attributes?
Please give something to work on. Is there any video or any article i can watch/read?

    This is the amp-ad. https://paste.pics/a0d78d290c3a5a5fd4f2f380b5703add
Looks like it has the attributes already

That is not the problematic ad.

There are other amp-ad tags on the page which lack width and height.

Documentation for amp-ad can be found at https://amp.dev/documentation/components/amp-ad/

    Hi (@westonruter)

Managed to fix the issue on my own. Found out the the amp implementation was ok but the ads plugin was interfering with it. So i removed the ads plugin and now the amp-ad is working fine – https://validator.ampproject.org/#url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.zodiacenthusiasts.com%2Fare-aries-and-leo-soulmates%2F%3Famp.

But i noticed one problem. While i had the ads plugin, i used to earn more and used to get more clicks. Now that i removed the ads plugin i don’t. Does this mean that the clicks aren’t being recorded? Am i missing some sort of script probably not connected with adsense? Can you be able to see if i have implemented the right steps?

Sorry. I have minimal experience with ads, so I can’t really advise. Perhaps @jamesosborne can provide some insights.

@eddievet Nice job correcting the issue. All ads plugins work differently, you may have better luck contacting the plugin developer or looking at the different placement options.

In relation to clicks being recorded you should be able to check using AdSense reports (AdSense > Reposts > Events). This would be the same whether you are using an Ads plugin or not.

Can you be able to see if i have implemented the right steps?

I can see ads on your AMP site but not on your non AMP. If you plan to use standard mode AMP that’s fine, just bear in mind you may be missing out on ads revenue when users visit your non AMP site at present (with no ads). That may also be contributing to your ads revenue shortfall. You might consider adding Auto ads on your non AMP site in the meantime.

    Hi (@jamesosborne)

I didn’t have problems with ads placement (using or not the plugin) but plugin was making amp inactive and was producing codes stopping the amp from working, and on removal all is working well. Maybe it’s a way for them to make money by pushing users to buy the Paid Version.
Regarding the plugin i will have to look at the other option, as i have earlier activated the auto ads and also the Amp ad is active.

Now, one thing i don’t understand and i am confused…
Because of the fix, errors are being reduced and soon all my be fixed. Now both amp and non amp display ads when i had it activated the “Transitional” option. Will this option work for both Amp and Non-Amp ads?

Secondly, when i get all the posts/errors fixed will you advice to move to Standard? What if i stay on “Reader” option (which i am currently now) will i still earn from both Amp and Non Amp ads?

Or what the best option in order to earn from both Amp and Non Amp?

@eddievet You can remain on Reader mode if you choose. While your site was running in transitional module when I last checked your current mode might be best, as your theme isn’t fully AMP compatible in the other modes.

If you want to earn from both AMP and non AMP just ensure you have ads on both. One option is to use Site Kit to easily place Auto ads on both versions.

For further ads related questions the product experts at the AdSense support forums might be your best bet.

    Hi @swissspidy

Firstly I hope that this message will find you and your beloved once strong and healthy from this deadly virus.

back to amp. It looks life almost 95% of pages/posts have been successfully converted into amp, however i am facing an issue and would like your expertise and recommendation as you always have done.

Since amp has been running i have noticed anomalies on bounce rate. Analytics show (https://paste.pics/85832feb4950d632c219e179b32b974f) high figures of users staying on site (https://www.zodiacenthusiasts.com/) which is good, but the bounce rate is high, which worries me.

According to analytics team member, this could be as users land on amp post from google organic search then when they move to the next post they land on a non amp pages (unless this totally wrong).

Right now i am serving Reader amp. If i move to Standard would this eliminate this issue? If yes, how would this impact the amp-ads served on posts.

    Thanks again
    Eddie
