    Hi Wordfence Support Team,

We have an e-commerce website where our target market is Australia. Thus, we have disabled/blocked all other countries from accessing the site using Country Blocking options for security purpose because we have been hacked before. However, Google Adwords support team wants us to unblock all countries and make it accessible worldwide in order for them to reactivate our suspended Google Adwords campaign.

Does turning geoblocking off will have a huge effect on the site security? Also, are you aware with these Adwords and geoblocking issue?

    Thanks!

Many of our customers have found that google plays better with us if they unblock the US. As an aside, Bing/Yahoo cant index your site if you block US either. We have never heard that Google wants you to unblock all countries to make adwords work. Did they give you a reason why you needed to unblock all countries?

    Hi Tim,

Thanks for your reply. We already unblocked US for crawling/indexing purpose. I guess we just need to have our website accessible anywhere.

    Thanks

    Support,

Was this ever fixed. Google are asking to unblock ALL counties in order for Adwords to work.

    From Google: Hello Gabriel,

This is Rohit here from Google AdWords, we spoke yesterday regarding the suspension of your website. I tried calling you on your mobile phone (as I was unable to reach you on 1300 number), but reached your voicemail.

There seems to be an issue with the website and that’s the reason why the policy team hasn’t reenabled your website yet. When I checked yesterday, no doubt the website was working and hence I decided to consult our policy team. But, it looks like your website is not accessible from everywhere, it is accessible only from few countries. I have provided a screenshot of the message that I get when we tried to access it from another computer. Please note that the website needs to be accessible from everywhere for it to be re enabled.

I would request you to work with your webmaster and make it accessible from everywhere. It looks like there is some firewall issue here, which they should be able to take care. I will try and call you back in a couple of hours.

This is a google adwords problem. Its a policy they enforce and haven’t let users around. The silly thing is that they allow you to not serve ads in countries but require you to be visible from there anyway.

For instance: You get shady traffic from Brazil (just an example. I love Brazil!) so you tell Google not to serve ads there. They stop serving your ads in Brazil. You block Brazil in our country blocking feature. Google adwords, which randomly scans your site from different countries to check up on you, scans from Brazil and sees your site as blocked. They delist you from the adwords program. The only way I think you might be able to get around this is to make a blocked page on your site, like yoursite.com/file/path/blocked-country.html, and redirect all your blocked traffic there so that the montioring script saw the site as live and not returning a 503. That’s just a thought of something to try.

6 months later – this is till the case with Google AdWords. I was wondering if anyone tried Tim’s suggestion and how to accomplish it?

@Debwork: I haven’t heard from any users trying this over time yet. But since country blocking is a premium feature, can you open a support request with the account that you set up when you purchased your license, here?

If you haven’t purchased yet, you can email questions on premium features to us at: presales (at) wordfence.com

Thanks! We can only provide support for free features in this forum, per the wordpress.org forum rules.
