Support » Fixing WordPress » Google Adsense: Where do I put the code?

  • I just started a site It’s hosted through Bluehost as I saw that was the host recommended by WordPress.

I’m trying to put Google Adsense ads on it. However, I’m having trouble. I got the SAM plugin (the free version) for ad management, plugged in a couple ads, and they didn’t show up.

I went back to the walk through link and tried to see what I missed. There is a general code I’m supposed to put on my page.

The only problem is, I’m running a theme (Twenty Sixteen) and I don’t see where to drop the code. I tried to add it to the widget Content Bottom as text, but that didn’t do anything.

If I hadn’t already paid Bluehost, I’d try a different host as their wait time is astronomical and then they don’t give me the help I need. However, changing hosts isn’t an option right now.

Can anyone help me, please? I’ll change themes or whatever I need to do, but the entire point of setting up a site instead of a blog was so that I could monetize it.

  • Hey @muttix,

I would recommend making sure everything is fine on Google’s side first. Have they approved everything, including your domain?

I am not entirely sure how the SAM plugin works and you may have better luck over in their support area where the developer(s) and community that use the plugin can assist you.

After a little more testing – Is your front page set to a static page or your latest posts? I don’t think the Content Bottom widget area displays unless it’s a static front page.

Thank you for your quick response.

Anyhow, Google has approved everything (it wasn’t approved when I posted).

I deactivated the SAM plugin and installed an Adsense one instead. Still, no change. My front page is my most recent posts. I’d like to keep it that way as my audience runs the gamut from technologically advanced to new to computers (who would then require assistance to find the latest posts).

If I keep it as my most recent posts, is there another area wherein I should put the code? If need be, I can change the front page to static. But I want the ads to show up on every page.
