I switched from a 3rd party plugin to Site Kit on November 26th, and my Google Ads no longer records any conversions since making the change:

Conversions are enabled in Site Kit settings:

Usually any WooCommerce order placed would record a conversion in Google Ads. I thought it could be related to my FlyingPress caching plugin delaying JavaScript loading — but even after disabling that plugin completely, I still don’t have any conversions recorded.

That is correct. You would need to click on an ad, and place an order for the conversion to record. The conversion tag is usually placed on the order “thank you” page I believe. Maybe that tag needs to be investigated?

Excellent, thank you for the detailed explanation. Certainly we will look into this further and let you know here once I have an update.

Thanks for checking in @korvak. Please allow another day before I have an update on this. I have a couple of conversions set up on a site, with a Google Ads linking to a GA4 property, although so far I don’t have any consistent results. Regardless, I will let you know after additional testing, tomorrow at the latest. Thank you.

Thanks for your patience on this. I’ve been testing this although not encountering any issues on the test sites on sites with Google Ads and GA4 connected. To troubleshoot this further, after which I’ll check in with the team, can you share the conversion actions you have defined within your Google Ads account? In particular I’m more curious whether you have any Page view actions or actions that don’t require adding code to your site. Site Kit doesn’t add action specific code by default, although so I’m wondering whether the Tag Manager account you have connected does already include some tags related to Google Ads.

Feel free to share any conversion actions, along with tags you have active within the Site Kit connected Tag Manager account. You can do so privately via the same form previously used if preferred.

You may also wish to share the steps to recreate your own Ads campaign, showing the conversion actions you defined. I can then recreate a similar environment for testing, as I don’t see any unexpected behavior so far, with Site Kit connecting and placing the Google Ads code as expected.

I have one conversion actino created called Purhcase. Here is the details:

Note that when I use my other plugin called “Pixel Manager” — the Google Ads conversions are recording just fine. These are the only two settings I had to add into Pixel Manager:

Thanks for the update @korvak. As I won’t be able to go ahead with a purchase conversion on your site to check this, if you wish to add another conversion action, such as a click on the phone number to dial the phone number listed on the top of your site, I can check this action for you using tagassistant.google.com.

Regarding conversions working from another plugin, I can see some conversion relation data added via your Pixel Manager for WordPress plugin.

Site Kit will only place a Google Ads snippet on your site, and not any additional action tags you may configure within Google Ads.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above. Thank you.

We went back to our other plugin for now. It’s too difficult to test this since it’s a purchase conversion — but what I can tell you is this:

    – No conversions are recorded in Google Ads using site Kit plugin
    – All conversions are recorded without issue using other plugins

Testing other types of conversions such as click conversinos might be unrelated to this issue. If you ever discover and fix the issue in the future, I’ll be glad to try your plugin again.

I understand, and indeed it is not an easy one to test given the complexities that this needs to be tested with a Google Ads account and purchases. I do have an internal task open and I will continue to test on a site I have set up for this purpose. Indeed once I have conversions working as expected I will let you know here.

From our side also, based on your own experience, this highlights some additional work where may want to document the process further. I’ll discuss this with the team.

Regarding conversions working with additional plugins, I suspect they do automatically add conversion actions, connecting to WooCommerce hooks. This will form part of further testing and I certainly will let you know should I find anything conclusive on this.

Thanks again for your willingness to share such information.
