• Hi,

I purchased a domain (library4africa.com) and am using non-WordPress hosting service. I am trying to create a subdirectory called “skippyproject” to launch an entirely separate e-commerce website.

Using FTP, I have uploaded WordPress 3.4.2, the most current version at this time, with wp-config edited to properly connect with a database from my hosting service.

However, whenever I try to visit library4africa.com/skippyproject, it redirects me to http://www.library4africa.com/skippyproject/ with a message from Google that reads “404. That’s an error. The requested URL /skippyproject/ was not found on this server. That’s all we know.”

I have tried emptying caches and browsing history, typing the URL in different computers, deleting “skippyproject” file from hosting service entirely and putting a new WordPress download with a different directory name, etc. I also spent countless hours searching for solutions in Google but to no avail.

If you have any idea why the site is acting this way, please help. I will greatly appreciate any input. Thank you in advance.
