 * Okay, so [Stuffandthings.org](http://stuffandthings.org/) is no more. Why? Because,
with all my intelligence or something, I managed to delete my own database. While
deleting a bunch of empty database, I managed to delete the only one that really
   meant anything. Go me!
If I start over again, sometime in the future, I’m keeping
backups of everything fucking thing. That I deleted something I didn’t want to
and did not keep anything backed up makes me want to smash something. (I do not
have anything to smash.) If anyone misses it, I’m sorry. There’s not much I can
   do.

 * Been there, done that – but refrained from subjecting the forum to whatever profanities
I may or may not (but wanted to) have uttered. Sure can empathize, though. Ouch,
that’s gotta hurt. At the risk of sounding condescending, better luck next time
   😉

 * It’s possible, but unlikely. Their main server had a hardware failure a couple
of days ago, and I’ve only been on the temporary server for three days or so.
I’ve fired off an email, just in case.

 * You could try the google cache. “Bloglines has a special surprise” shows a cache
   of the article — [http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:qgWI6xCpDyEJ:stuffandthings.org/previously/2004/07/bloglines-has-a-special-surprise/+Bloglines+has+a+special+surprise&hl=en](http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:qgWI6xCpDyEJ:stuffandthings.org/previously/2004/07/bloglines-has-a-special-surprise/+Bloglines+has+a+special+surprise&hl=en)

Or the front page is cached here. [http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:1Cy5-Nl-wuYJ:stuffandthings.org/+&hl=en](http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:1Cy5-Nl-wuYJ:stuffandthings.org/+&hl=en)
Might be a slow and painful way to lookup old articled, but you might be able
to find most of your content.

 * Scott: OH my goodness. I didn’t even think of that! I don’t think my post count
has gone over even 40, so that’s a great way. I appreciate the suggestion.

 * Okay, crisis averted. I managed to cull together most of the posts from Google’s
cache. I do appreciate everyone’s kind words and help. Thanks for calming me
   down. 🙂

 * You might want to try archive.org too. they keep dated archives of websites.

 * Feedster caches everything as well.

 * Archive.org is an excellent resource, but I don’t think they do their cacheing
as often as Google does. Google had already cached an entry from a few days ago,
whereas archive.org… well, I don’t know. They aren’t cacheing my site at all.

As for feedster, I wish I had thought of that before. See, the problem I had
with google cache is that it _really_ screws up the HTML, if you choose to download
the “just text” version. This is what I did. And it took a long time to fix,
but now [the site is back up](http://stuffandthings.org/previously/2004/07/pain)
and running. Still, feedster’s cache interface does not get in the way, and manages
to do so without capitalizing every HTML tag. Sigh.
