• I want to love Sharing Image. There’s so much about it that’s well thought out. At the same time, aspects of it feel like Classic WordPress and lacking cohesion with the Block Editing experience. Don’t get me wrong, it definitely gets the job done, but at present needs a range of tweaks to become production-worthy (I can’t turn a client loose with this iteration).

*Fourth star added because Anton responded so quickly to my review and asked for feedback.

    Hi Tom,

Thank you for your feedback, it is very valuable to us. It really seems that the plugin is a little outdated in its architecture.

It will be very helpful if you can describe in a little more detail what exactly can be improved.

Oh wow! Fast response, Anton — I’m actually working on a blog post reviewing a Sharing Image and few competitors (Sharing Image wins out on features).

The following are observations that, in my opinion, would make Sharing Image the strongest contender in the social banner image space:

    • Add ability to duplicate templates
    • Add ability to duplicate layers
    • Add ability to manage individual image layer transparency
    • Add ability to move layers down, or just make layer containers draggable
    • Give plugin the ability to save into the media library so that it’s visible from library interface
    • And/or add ability to directly set as featured image
    • Text size inputs instead of slider
    • Font weight, tracking, and case controls
    • More robust Google fonts integration

*I realize that the request for saving into the Media Library for front-end visibility introduces some layers of complication. I would also recommend seeing if you could provide an option for users of Enable Media Replace to hook into that plugin’s functions to provide dynamic updates to image resources that Sharing Image has placed into the library.

Thank you very much for the detailed answer! Much of what you have proposed is already planned. We will try our best to make the product better.

Fantastic! I updated with a caveat re: the Media Library. Also, here’s the post. Looking forward to updates so I can update my review! Thanks again for the quick responses. Updated to 4 stars on that basis. Have a great day (or night, depending on your time zone).
