• For a long time I wondered which plugin was consuming too much RAM on my WP installation. Through the Code Profiler I found out that THIS plugin is responsible for it. After disabling it, I suddenly had 40-50 MB more space in RAM. This is unacceptable, unfortunately! Too bad, this PlugIn is otherwise really good and does a great job. I have now solved the hyphenation by CSS and deleted this PlugIn.

I am sorry you feel that way.

While I’d like to use wp-Typography use less RAM that it does, the plugin has been optimized mostly for runtime performance. It also does a lot more than “just” hyphenate text. In order to be able to inject HTML markup into the content in a safe and robust way, it is first parsed and converted into a DOM representation.

While I think this is a reasonable tradeoff between transformative power and resource usage, your mileage may differ. Whether the plugin deserves a two-star rating due to this tradeoff, we are obviously of two minds.
