Support » Plugin: Gutenberg » Good But Make it Optional!

  • The Block concept is very good and easy to use for beginner but at the same time, it makes text view very difficult to understand. PLEASE don’t embed this in WordPress. Make it optional because I really don’t want it to force me to use this.

    Hi,

How does it make text view difficult for you, could you elaborate a but on this?

As for making it optional, we will be bundling it with WordPress, but you can opt-out by using the Classic Editor plugin until you feel comfortable making the switch.

I can view whole text view at once in Classic Editor but Gutenberg doesn’t allow me to view whole text view at once because it divides text, image etc… into different blocks and also adds CSS ‘IDs and Class’, which makes it very difficult to understand.

So you mean you’re limited by having to view the source of one block at a time?

If I understand you correctly there, if you hit the ellipsis in the top right corner of the whole editor (the three vertical dots), it has an option to switch the whole editor into code mode.

The reason you are seeing IDs and classes is because you are now given a direct representation of what will be on the front end of your site, so this should give you more control overall, but they can also be ignored if you don’t need to touch them.
