Support » Plugin: UpdraftPlus WordPress Backup Plugin » Going to another backup solution

  • It was a great plugin. However recently it removed option to set timing of backup in the free version. As such it chooses backup time at its own whim and downs my site when most viewers are hitting it.

Now I have to find another plugin or simply use cron with mysqldump.

  • We’re not quite sure what you’re referring to here. We agree removing features would be really bad move, and you’d rightly be disappointed, but we haven’t done so.

The free version has always allowed you to set the frequency of backups (e.g. daily, hourly) and the premium version has always allowed you to set precise time of day.

I can confirm that this is not the case… the free version has never had this option; it has always been a paid add-on (https://updraftplus.com/shop/fix-time/) – it first went on sale in January 2013 (one of the first two paid-add ons).

You can verify this by using the Wayback Machine, and/or by downloading any/all of the previous releases of the free version from https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/advanced/ .
