• I moved my blog from blogger to wordpress.com and then just today, did the self install on a server and exported everything from the .com site to my new self hosted one.

Should I close the .com account, set up a redirect, leave it as is with a post telling people to go to my new blog?

Any help would be appreciated as this is my first post here.

  • Personally, I would delete all posts from .com to avoid duplicate content and leave a page there informing readers of new website address. Good luck.

Sounds good, however, what do you mean by leave a page there? If I close it and someone tries to go there, wouldn’t it just say the page does not exist?

I meant that I would not close the wordpress.com account and but would delete all posts except one where I would let them know the URL of my new blog 🙂

ok got it. thanks for the tips.

I want to do the same exact thing of moving from .com to .org. How did you do that without losing data or having broken links?
