  • This is for arne or whoever could help:

I installed Sitemap Generator 2.6 nine months ago, and, kudos to your software, installation was set and forget. It worked fine since then, as far as I can tell. Recently — around 300 posts and 300 comments later that is — I learned Yahoo and MSN have embraced the sitemap protocol. So I got curious and installed SG 2.7 and then SG 3.0b6 — in the same day, without even pausing to test them. Bad me.

Then memory limit errors started showing up when my authors saved posts.

It turns out that my webhost has a 8 Mb PHP memory limit.

After I deactivated 3.0b6 and reinstalled 2.7, this error message appears on the Options|Sitemap screen:

Fatal error: Unknown(): The script tried to execute a method or access a property of an incomplete object. Please ensure that the class definition googlesitemapgeneratorpage of the object you are trying to operate on was loaded _before_ the session was started in /home/sites/.../public_html/.../wp-content/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/sitemap.php on line 747

    (1) Did the SG 3.0b6 beta break my WP so SG 2.x won’t work anymore? How do I completely uninstall 3.0b6 then? I haven’t seen any FAQ on how.

    (2) Where can I re-download 2.6? I don’t remember encountering memory exhaustion with it, but then again the last time I rebuilt my sitemap manually was 150 posts ago. Do you think 2.6 will work within 8 Mb, or do I give up now and wait until I can migrate to a better webhost?

Google’s crawlers await your response. 🙂
