I’ve made some posts with Gutenberg. Wanted to be prepared for “the next step” so tried to get used to thinking about blocks and types instead of about content. But I managed. Then Gutenberg started to quit: blank pages for new posts and edits. Seen lots of comments about that…..
So I disabled the plugin – to discover that pages made in Gutenberg CANNOT be published when edited in the classic editor. A popup appears, asking what I want but choosing “classic” it simply returns to the post – and discards the changes.
It seems I’ll have to delete all “Gutenberg original” posts and create them again, but I hope there will be a solution for this issue….

There is one solution available but that’s a really drastic one: remove Gutenberg completely. It looks like disabling is not really working: there still is a kind of connection. Getting rid of the plugin by deleting is does the trick.

    Hi,

This is unfortunately a limitation, yes. Gutenberg content is not backwards compatible with the classic editor after the fact, so anything created in the new editing experience is. I’m not sure if we blocked it fully or not, but I can confirm that if you do try to edit content in the old editor, it will result in unexpected behaviors.

If you’re not quite ready for the new experience yet, I highly recommend installing the Classic Editor plugin, as it will retain the old plugin even after WordPress 5.0 is released.

Marius, I can confirm that a complete removal of the plugin – at least for my site – did the trick: I can work again. I’ll stick to the old situation for now and wait for a stable release of WP5. Then maybe I’ll try again – and hope for more stability. And I’ll install the classic editor plugin to be prepared :-).
