 * Okay, I am new to wordpress and am having extreme issues. I am considering moving
hosting and doing a fresh install, but would like to try to fix this if possible.
 * GoDaddy is my hosting provider and I am on a standard linux setup. I did the
one-click WP app install and my site is up at skinnywin.com. This is not a monetized
site, this is really just for a silly competition with my friends, but I do want
to be able to edit the theme! However, my issues are:
 * 1) What I FTP is not reflected in my wordpress account. I edited my sidebar.php
file to remove the meta links in the default theme (the only one i can use right
now – see below). The meta links are still there.
    2) I have no theme editor
in my design tab. 4) When I FTP new themes they do not show up in design tab (
and I triple checked to ensure I did this correctly).
 * I have messed with the file permissions extensively and scoured the forum for
anyone with the same issues and have found no luck implementing the solutions
they found. I work on another wordpress.org site and love the functionality of
the theme editor and ease of use, I just want to be able to get to that point!
 * Thanks in advance!

 * 1- removing the meta links from the sidebar.php is not the correct way of doing
   that. Refer to this post:
    - 2- You should have a theme editor tab, if you don’t, I would be questioning
the quality of your one-click install.
    - 3- New themes not showing up, also could be a problem with your one-click
install, or a known issue. Sometimes it helps to rename a theme folder to
get it to show up. Or you are not correctly uploading it.

 * OK, so I assumed it was my install that was the overlying problem. Thank you
for the pointer on the meta links though. I am going to do a clean install of
WP and not use the one click install provided by GoDaddy this time, but just
do it the old fashioned way.
 * I am resolving this, but if anyone has any tips for installing using GoDaddy
   hosting I am all ears.
