Support » Fixing WordPress » Go figure… Flash showing in IE, and not FF

  • This is the first time I’ve tried using a flash header in one of my wordpress sites. It seems to be working in IE, and not FF, which is really strange. Any suggestions if there is something special I need to do when putting in the swf files in WP?

    This is the site:

    This is the code I’m using:

    <object classid=”clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000″ codebase=”,0,19,0″ width=”801″ height=”220″>
    <param name=”movie” value=”” /><param name=”quality” value=”high” /><embed src=”header2.swf” quality=”high” pluginspage=”” type=”application/x-shockwave-flash” width=”801″ height=”220″></embed>

  • Try putting the full path in the src attribute of the “embed” tag.

    That is precisely the trouble.
    This code tells where IE to find the flash file:
    <param name=”movie” value=”” />
    And this code tells FF where to find the Flash file:
    <embed src=”header2.swf”
    …which is a relative path that says the file is found at http://

    when it should be looking for http://

    duh! i looked for a ‘second’ place to put the full path and could not ‘see’ it! That’s when it is handy for another pair of eyes to take a look! (and to get some sleep the night before.)

    Thanks so much!
