 * Hey everyone, I’m new to the forum, and I have a question that I can’t figure
   out….
 * I run the website for my church on wordpress.com (with a domain from Go Daddy
mapped to it), however we decided it was time to switch to wordpress.org. I got
hosting through Go Daddy and got it all set up, but now the problem starts. I
can’t figure out how to allow visitors to continue to view our current (wordpress.
com) site while I edit our new (wordpress.org) site. I created a subdomain ex.(
www.mychurch.org/newsite) and installed the wordpress.org files to it, but when
I would try to view the login page (www.mychurch.org/newsite/wp-login.php) it
takes me back to a page on my current site which states “Oops! Page Not Found”.
 * So, I guess I’m asking can I have a subdomain with wordpress.org and still have
my wordpress.com site available to visitors? The only other thing I was thinking
of was buying another domain and designing the new site on it, before changing
it over to my main domain.
 * I hope that’s enough information and not to confusing….
    Thanks for your help!
   Blessings, J

 * You need to keep the nameservers set to WordPress.COM and use a different domain
name on the new site until you are ready to switch over. You can’t use a domain
   name in two places, no.
 * GD might be able to give you a temporary domain to use – so ask them about that.

 * You cannot use one domain name on two sites that are hosted in two very different
places. If you are using your current domain name with your wordpress.com site,
then you will need to use a different domain name for your self-hosted site.

 * Ok! Thanks for the quick response guys.
 * Looks like I’ll just purchase a cheap domain for the time being, or maybe I’ll
talk to Godaddy about a temporary solution.
 * Thanks again and have a blessed day,
    J
