• Is there a way to search through one or more fields without adding those fields to the search form? I have a situation where members can enter two addresses, and may potentially have two cities in their profile. However I don’t want a search form with a box for City 1 and a box for City 2. One box for City that searches through both.

    Is this doable?

    Hi @esquecreative,

This would require customization, if you need this customization please consider hiring a qualified developer for assistance.

    Regards.

I got a little similar problem but I didnt want to start new topic for this so Ill just post my problem here aswell.

Is it possible to do search through user profiles and their checkboxes? Example, User checkbox a car brands Volvo and Audi in their profile. New member wanna search another users with same brands. Is it hard to create checkbox search for this? “Checkbox clicks volvo, audi and submit -> shown results includes only profiles which have checkboxed Volvo and Audi in their profiles”. Also how does Ultimate member plugin save the data? is it user meta-field or?

I see you haven’t got a reply yet, so I’ll share my two cents:

Let’s say you have created three profile fields: car_brand, car_year, car_type. Your users can complete these fields as needed. Each of these three fields can be added to the search individually, and will be displayed as individual search fields. (So, if you add all three to the search, the front-end search will display three boxes / fields).

So, in answer to your question, make sure you add a (one) checkbox field to the profile for the car brands. Only results your users select will be displayed. You can then add that checkbox field to the search. The search will then go through that field of each profile and display the results accordingly.

The difficulty comes in when you want the search to cover more than one field, but only want to display one search field on the front-end. (That’s what the original question of this topic is about).
