    Hi, newbie here.

Objective: to have my site address (www.example.com) load a page _other_ than the WP blog. This page would be HTML contain a link to the WP blog.

    Is this possible?

I followed this help file, but am a little confused. My WP blog still loads at http://www.example.com
Is this just a file managment solution?

    Any ideas would be helpful.

If I understand correctly, you can create a home.php file in your theme directory to achieve what you want. The server will offer this up in place of index.php, and you can put whatever you want on that page.
