It’s been more than a week of trying out the WP Ghost plugin. I even purchased WP Ghost Pro, only to learn from the plugin’s support adviser, Peter, that this plugin isn’t actually meant for obscuring WooCommerce (mentioned indirectly!).

I’m giving zero stars for the support from Peter—there’s basically no help offered and they insist WP Ghost is 100% faultless without ever considering potential conflicts with themes or other plugins.

I’m giving two stars for the plugin itself because it does work, but it doesn’t obscure everything, and using WP Ghost (Pro) to rewrite CSS/JS can make WordPress sluggish.

    👋Hi,

Thank you for letting us know about your experience with us, even if you didn’t find it optimal.

I believe there was a misunderstanding in our communication and I apologize for that, however, allow me to bring some light on the matter.

    1. This plugin isn’t actually meant for obscuring WooCommerce (mentioned indirectly!).
Our response: while the main purpose of the WP Ghost plugin is to keep your website safe from future attacks from hackers and bots, hiding the theme and plugins from CMS and theme detectors was a happy side effect of our plugin which is more than possible to achieve.
    2. They insist WP Ghost is 100% faultless without ever considering potential conflicts with themes or other plugins
Our response: I can safely say that there are indeed conflicts between themes or plugins, and we always are more than happy to assist in getting them sorted out.
However, the topic of our discussion was mapping WooCommerce to hide it from the source code. While other features could generate conflicts, in the case of Text & URL Mapping it’s whether your theme or plugins work with the mapping you made or not.
You stated that the change was made in the source code, however, it created visual issues. This means that the theme or plugin you were using was searching for WooCommerce but wasn’t able to find it because it was changed with the mapping, there so problems occurred.
We weren’t able to offer any support for this because it’s not in our hands. We can’t fix their plugins or themes from our side to work with the mapping you made, only they can. This doesn’t mean that our plugin is 100% flawless, feel free to look over our reviews and support threads to see that problems occurred but we always got them sorted out, just that in this case it’s a simple binary state, it works or not. If it doesn’t, as much as we would want, there isn’t anything we can do from our side.

Hope this clears out the air a bit on the matter.

If you consider giving it another go, we’ll be more than happy to help you protect your website from hackers and bots.
