• RankMath was the best when I first purchased Pro years ago. It has steadily gotten worse. The plugin is borderline trojan horse malware now. Just today, there was a new prompt inside my image gallery recommending I install some image optimization plugin called ‘Imagify’. Weird, considering that I already use a popular image optimization plugin and have for years. I clicked ‘X’ to ignore, and to my surprise, RankMath BYPASSED the normal WordPress workflow and actually installed Imagify in my instance!

Stupidly, the new unauthorized plugin immediately displayed the error ‘The following plugin is not compatible with this plugin and may cause unexpected results:’. Indeed, my activity log shows RankMath installed Imagify. Totally unacceptable and makes me wonder what else this SEO plugin does.

    Hello @nickurban,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

This behavior definitely should not occur as Rank Math does not install or activate any plugins automatically without explicit user consent. We’ve tested this thoroughly on our end, and closing the Imagify recommendation prompt with the “X” button only dismisses the notice and no plugin installation takes place.

To help us investigate further, could you please share the details of the activity log entry where it shows Rank Math installing Imagify?

If possible, please copy the exact log line or a short excerpt around it. This will help us identify whether the installation was triggered internally by another process, plugin, or script.

We’ll review the details carefully to determine what might have caused this and ensure it doesn’t happen again.

Looking forward to helping you with this one.
