Here’s the deal. I had a blog a while back and decided to delete it. I didn’t export the posts, but I never deleted the database from my host so I still have access to the posts that way. I now want to temporarily restore the blog to retrieve some of the posts.

    Steps I’ve taken:

    1) I created a new install in a temporary sub-directory in my current website. For this, the current site is alltayo.com; I created a sub dir –> alltayo.com/prev. There was also another directory alltayo.com/blog that I was intending to create a new blog with (unrelated to this issue)

    2) I edited the wp-config file to set the old DB to the new install location. I edited the DB name as well as the table prefixes (according to the table prefixes shown in phpAdmin). This caused the white screen of death.

2a) Accessing alltayo.com/prev/wp-admin took me to a screen saying that alltayo.com/blog is up to date

2b) Accessing alltayo.com/prev/wp-login.php takes me to the default login, but tries to log me in to alltayo.com/blog instead of alltayo.com/prev.

    3) I’ve taken the typical steps of renaming the plugin and themes folders via ftp. No luck.

    4) I thought that maybe the issue was that there was content in the folders so I tried the same steps above with a subdomain (previously.alltayo.com) and with an entirely different domain (ssbke.com/restored) with the same results. I even deleted alltayo.com/blog.

I’ve been struggling with this for the last couple of days, so if anyone has any insight, please let me know.
