Getting two different "continue reading" text

We’re using your great plugin to display excerpts on the home page and I notice we’re getting both “continue reading” with an arrow and “read more”, which is coming from the plugin settings. But, the “continue reading” text is not a link. How do I get rid of the “continue reading” text?
