    Hey guys,

I’ve downloaded the most recent version of wordpress from wordpress.org for my new blog. I chose wordpress.org becuase I’m planning to eventually sell products on my website. I have a domain name and hosting already purchased and I’ve heard that wordpress has some of the best blogging software.

However after downloading I get a problem after going to the wp-admin/install.php page where it says I do not have PHP installed. I’ve downloaded PHP but don’t know how to install it.

I’m planning on using FileZilla as an FTP client and use Mozilla as my browser. Can anyone help me out with this problem and the rest of the installation? Also, do I need to php coding? I know some HTML etc. but I’m not familiar with PHP or mySQL.

  • The webserver whre you have your domain hosted should be running PHP – therefore you need to get your hosting provider to have it seup if not already done so or provide you with a hosting package that has the necessary scripts installed.

    Thanks for responding,

Does that mean moving my DNS to my hosting website instead of domain website?

I want to make a website. But I’m a part of a group my friend set up. WP doesn’t seem to be able to separate me from that group, so I can have an independent site. User name, Password, etc. are all “in use” in that other group. How can I get an independent site set up?

@nicky Spur are you installing wordpress on a host server or on your computer with a server program.

@sarah Jane West If you want to have wordpress set up your own then you will need register a domain name and have host account.
