Honeypot is added to all forms automatically. It is invisible though, so you would need to look at the page code to see it. You do not need to take any additional action for Honeypot to work.
Even with reCaptcha installed, manual spam can still occasionally get through. We have even been the victims of manual spam attacks that can’t really be prevented with most automated spam protection.
There are additional layers of spam protection you can add—Akismet works well for us. If there is a common phrase, link or word in the spam that is getting through, you could use the comment blacklist option. I have also heard good things about the anti-spam plugin by Cleantalk.

Yes, if you examine the source code, you will see the honeypot implementation. Honeypot alone is not the most effective spam prevention method as advanced spambots have learned how to bypass this, so we always recommend additional spam prevention measures.
Akismet has always worked well for me – and seems to be viewed very favorably in general – but this is subjective and you should try it yourself to see. It is possible to use it for free if you are just trying it out.

The field name is random – this makes it harder for spambots to recognize it.
I’m afraid that we cannot reveal more details on a public forum as this would give spammers the information they need to bypass the HoneyPot field.

I’m afraid we do not have any information about the Zero Spam for WordPress plugin.
If it is built to WordPress standards, then all form submissions should be checked by this plugin, so I would recommend giving it a try.
Formidable has also introduced V3 reCaptcha support since you initially mentioned this issue, so I would recommend upgrading to that.
