Getting RSS file names to standard (6 posts)

I've just migrated from MT to WP. I don't want to mess up the feedreaders I already have set up in various (uneditable) locations, so I'd like to convert my WP feeds into those with more standard file names. I've read some instructions on how to convert WP's php feeds into standard (atom.xml, index.rdf, etc) files, but they seemed to be for an older version of WP, since they were asking me to edit files that don't exist.

Anyone have any idea how I can accomplish this?

What ever you do, do not rename WP's feed files. Doing so will simply break the feeds. Use this plugin instead: http://boren.nu/archives/2005/03/29/feed-director-plugin/

Of course, you are absolutely right about renaming the files. (I learned that the hard way.) I'm not sure how exactly to install this plugin, however. I see that the link goes to a php script...do I add this somewhere?

Thanks for the help, btw. I was at my wit's end.

What about just using .htaccess to redirect?

    Redirect atom.xml http://www.yourblog.com/wordpress/index.php?feed=atom

That is essentially what the Feed Director plugin does.
