Getting rid of dodgy grey bars

    Hello
    I’ve been using Tiny Me Plug in to format my text, but would like to rid myself of the dodgy grey bars surrounding parts of it, it makes it look really eighties I think you’ll agree! Any solutions please?

    add your own background format to the pre style in style.css of your child theme;

    as you alredy have done –

    just make sure:

    color codes are 6 or 3 digits

    #FFFFFF or #fff

    while you at it, possibly alse repair this line:
    font: 12px/1 'Courier 10 Pitch',Courier,monospace;

    and remove <?php from the style above the pre style.

    I carried out the first two manouvres, couldn’t find:

    <?php

    should it be on the same page as the other stuff?

    this is how I (using Firefox’ web developer add-on) see the relevant part of style.css of the child theme:

    #site-title a {
        font-size:48px;
    }

    body.page-id-421 > #page > #branding > a {
        display: none;

    <?php

    }

    pre {
    background: none repeat scroll 0 0 #FFFFF;
    font: 12px/1 'Courier 10 Pitch',Courier,monospace;

    Hm interesting!

    the nearest I can find when I just look in the editor is:

    <?php
    so I have removed this
    am now going to have a fiddle to get changes to show…

    Hm
    nada, despite clearing the browser cache and restarting?!

    try a different browser – at the meoment I see no more grey backgrounds, and the styles are changed as well.

    seems to be fixed.
