Support » Fixing WordPress » Getting question mark instead of quote

  • Since updating from 2.0.4 to 2.0.6, all my new posts (the older ones are fine) are showing question marks instead of special character quotes. I checked out the database via Phpmyadmin and they are showing as question marks there too (while the old ones that are working are showing as an ASCII character code).

I search old posts and found some people with the same problem, but the solution didn’t appear to work for everyone (including me) and those posts were quite old.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Anyone? Even reverting to a backup from before upgrading didn’t fix the problem.

Snitch, I am having the exact same problems. If someone has posted a solution to this problem, I have not been able to find one. But if there is a solution, could someone please post a link to it?

2.0.5 had this problem in some instances but 2.0.6 fixed them.
Why not bump up to 2.07? It’s stable and secure (2.0.6 has a security flaw) and see what happens.

    I found a work around
I only ran into this problem when using the basic wordpress editor. I have the wysiwygpro (1.2 with WysiwygPro 2.2.13.1)as well and it does not seem to have this issue (it does however have an issue with uploaded images) So I do most my posts with the wysiwygpro but when i need to add a picture i must use the basic editor and then get this wierd question mark issue. I found that adding a <br> to the top of the post seems to cause wordpress to straighten up and use quotes as intended. it must be a <br> not just a return press on the keyboard. You have to use the html code. I am unsure if other html code would work at the beginning of the post but i would imagine so.
