Getting comment count to reflect Disqus comments

I’m having trouble getting the Disqus plugin comments to be reflected in the comment count for each blog/page entry.

I’ve been working through the plugin and trying to get it to work from their end, but wanted to see if you had any thoughts or input that might help get this working as well.

I’m not sure what additional details you’d need… comment counts work fine for native comments, but simply don’t reflect disqus comments. The docs for the plugin say that simply adding a class to the comment count container should be enough but that doesn’t seem to work.
