• Never seen this before, but my last two post, they were fine for a couple of months, but now the image pages are 404’s.

I went into the post today and clicked on the images and they seem to correct ok, when I change the dropdown from custom url to attached image. I click update, I do it for all 404 images, update the page, but then it does not stick, it goes back to cutstom url.

This is all over my head… any help appreciated.

  • Hello, kevs2, & welcome to the WordPress support forum.

Could you please provide us w/a site url so we can have a look?

Thanks Jackie, I usually don’t put my real websites and real names on public forums, although I would not mind PM you if that is possible.

    I’ll trust you w/an url shortener, kevs2.

    “I’ll trust you w/an url shortener, kevs2. “

    Don’t understand that.

Hopefully someone else out there can help.?

Hi, kevs2. I’m sorry. I should’ve been clearer. an url-shortener is something where you can submit an url & it “shortens it. It also makes it pretty unrecognizable, as you can see from the example below.

For example, when I go to the url shortener https://goo.gl & paste in the url to my website (no http or www required), I get:
    http://goo.gl/aBYz2y

The reason I said what I said is, of course, that someone could be nasty & send a malware link, & clicking on that could end one up in a *whole lot* of trouble.

If you’re not fond of Google’s url shortener for whatever reason, you can do a search for “url shortener”. There are a passle of them out there. What they’re normally used for is shortening url’s for things like Twitter, where characters count.

    HTH?

Thanks Jackie, I know it from twitter, but it does not really help keep ones identity private as ones still clicks to the website which reveals everything, name, phone number, emails, etc….

    Well,
    1) You can always sign up for a slack account thru WordPress & msg me thru that; or
    2) You can always go to wordpress.freenode.net, but this might involve some timezone juggling. However, u could just leave it there, & msg me here that you’ve done that.

But–hmm–here is an interesting possibility–might the shortened url the support forum volunteer sent be a real website w/information that could be useful for this particular purpose?

I have a very similar issue:

When I do click in a wordpress page I obtain this error (Permalink-postname mode):

    404 Not Found
    nginx

Only if I set permalinks in simple/plain mode work well.

    /etc/nginx/nginx.conf –> http://pastebin.com/pkahCuMZ
    /etc/nginx/sites-enabled/wordpress.conf –> http://pastebin.com/G4hMhcEC
with this last file (wordpress.conf) My site is broken, can not connect (there are a default folder with a link):

    Can not connect

Firefox can not establish a connection to the server in tenpi2.ddns.net

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Please try again in a few moments.
If you can not load any pages, check the network connection on your computer.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web.

In a support from a plug-in theme they said me this:

May be related with page codes are fetching or passing.

    Any idea?

Hello, am2homeserver. Please start your own topic as per the guidelines here:
    https://codex.wordpress.org/Forum_Welcome

The reason for this is that the problems are different, & it can get really confusing for both volunteers & those seeking help when discussion occurs regarding 2 different problems in the same thread.

& yes, I do have some ideas, but, again, please post your own topic. I’ll look periodically to see if it comes up in the ‘No Replies’ section & will address it if I see it. In the new topic, please post your site url if applicable, as well as what server you’re running & your site config file.

Thanks so much for your cooperation.

Yeah that was a weird one from Am2.

Ok, I’m giving up on this thread unless someone helpful comes along. I posted just once before on this forum and one good guy helped, but not much luck here.

I dont understand why you sent me to post a new theme to nothing. You could say: not open new topic, nobody will answer you.

[Moderator note: Expletive removed. Please do not post that kind of language in the forums.]
