• I wanted to add some code to just below the “body” tag of every page of my site. I have tried two different plugins to do this and keep getting the:

    “403 Forbidden
A potentially unsafe operation has been detected in your request to this site.”

…message. After disabling all plugins on the website + even trying a different theme and still getting the issue, then trying it on another website on the same host (HostGator) and getting the same message, I decided to try it on a site I have hosted on a different host (CrocWeb) and the code added just fine.

I tried contacting HostGator but they were uncharacteristically unhelpful. My permissions for all of my folders on the HostGator are 755, and the permission on the htaccess file is 644.

Any ideas on why HostGator is giving me the issue but a different host works just fine?

  • Have you scanned the site for evidence of any malware?

Hostgater monitors this forum and hopefully will respond.

No signs of malware. I’m contacting Hostgator again now that I know that the problem is unique to their hosting where it works just fine on another host.

I’ve tagged this topic for Hostgator’s attention in case any of their support people happen to pop in. I hope you get this sorted asap.

Thank you. Yes I tried contacting a different support person but again they recommended that I contact someone in the freelance developer field to resolve my issue.

Perhaps this issue is more technical than they’re used to but it felt odd when I’ve enjoyed quick and decisive support from them time and time again in the past.

    Greetings @scanner737,

We’re sorry to hear about the trouble you’ve had receiving assistance with this issue and we would definitely like to take another look with you. If you could please send an e-mail to feedback@hostgator.com (Attention : Jonathan H.) and please reference your domain as well as this post, we’ll get this escalated with our admins for review.

Thanks to @esmi for getting us tagged on this post and we’ll be watching for any updates.
