  • Resolved Aps Sukna

    Hey all!

    I have been searching for a way to remove the 8mb restriction on uploads in wordpress and came across a post with modification to .htaccess file. I cant search for the source of info atm. So after i did the hack it gave me serious error. So i removed it. I then finally solved it through creating a php.ini file. But now whenever i install a plugin and try and activate it. It gives me error saying:

    Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 970 is not allowed to access /tmp owned by uid 0 in /home/scholar2/public_html/musicadda/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 403

    Fatal error: session_start() [function.session-start]: Failed to initialize storage module: files (path: ) in /home/scholar2/public_html/musicadda/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 403

    Please help me with this. As im stuck and i need to fix up the site for future work soon. Thanks in advance for all the help 🙂

  • That is a problem you see when PHP is running in safe mode. If you didn’t have this issue before, then you have managed to re-configure PHP. I’d recommend that you put things back the way they were before your started messing things, and start over with the original issue of 8MB upload limit.

    i have already reverted all that i have changed, emptied the cache folder too. No use!

    Did you restart the web server?

    I have contacted my Hosting Provider. They have resolved the problem. But i still couldnt find a valid way to increase the size of the uploader.

    But in the end this worked like a charm

    Creating a php.ini inside wp_admin with these values

    safe_mode = off
    memory_limit = 32M
    upload_max_filesize = 32M
    post_max_size = 32M
    file_uploads = On

    Thanks to all for your precious replies.
    Cheers 🙂

    memory_limit = 200M
    upload_max_filesize = 50M
    post_max_size = 50M
    file_uploads = On
